How to do it
Determine eligibility: Nevada death records are CONFIDENTIAL. Eligible requesters: immediate family (spouse, parents, children, siblings, grandparents), legal guardian/representative, funeral directors, insurance companies and financial institutions with demonstrated interest, and others with documented tangible interest.
Determine which office holds the record:
- Clark County deaths 1988+: Southern Nevada Health District (Las Vegas)
- Clark County deaths before 1988: State Office in Carson City
- Washoe County deaths (all years): Northern Nevada Public Health (Reno) - includes records from late 1800s to present
- All other Nevada counties (any year): State Office in Carson City
