How do I access court records?

Court Clerk (county level - each of Nevada's 16 counties plus Carson City) / Nevada Supreme Court (state level)
Step by Step

How to do it

  1. Identify what type of record you need: District Court (felonies, civil over $15,000, family, probate), Justice Court (misdemeanors, civil up to $15,000, small claims up to $10,000, traffic), or Nevada Court of Appeals / Nevada Supreme Court
  2. Search online:
  3. NEVADA COURT ELECTRONIC FILING / ONLINE SEARCH: Nevada has been implementing e-filing and online case access through individual county court portals; no single statewide free public trial court search equivalent to some states
  4. CLARK COUNTY COURTS: clarkcountycourts.us - Clark County courts (Las Vegas) have a robust online portal with case search; Family Court, District Court, Justice Courts all have some online access
  5. WASHOE COUNTY: washoecourts.com - Washoe County courts (Reno) have online case search
  6. OTHER COUNTIES: access varies; check individual county court websites
  7. NEVADA SUPREME COURT AND COURT OF APPEALS: nvcourts.gov - statewide judicial website; Supreme Court and Court of Appeals opinions and case information
  8. For full case documents or certified copies: contact the Court Clerk in the county where the case was filed; in-person or written request
  9. In-person access: visit the county courthouse; bring photo ID and case details

County-specific variations apply

Nevada's online court record access varies dramatically by county. Clark County (Las Vegas) has the most comprehensive online access - clarkcountycourts.us covers District, Family, and Justice Courts. Washoe County (Reno) has strong online access at washoecourts.com. Carson City has its own court system. Rural Nevada counties (Elko, Humboldt, Lander, Eureka, Mineral, Esmeralda, etc.) have very limited online access - direct contact with court clerk is necessary.
