County-specific variations apply
Each of Indiana's 92 county sheriffs operates a separate jail with its own roster. Online search capabilities vary - Marion County (Indianapolis), Lake County, Hamilton County, Allen County, and other large counties have good online access; many rural Indiana counties have limited online access requiring a direct call to the jail. Indiana's myCase (publicaccess.courts.in.gov) can help find case information even when jail rosters aren't fully online.
Indiana Notes
Important state-specific details
Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) manages all state prisons, correctional facilities, and community corrections; Offender Search at in.gov/idoc covers currently incarcerated state inmates and those under supervision.
County jails operated by County Sheriffs - separate from IDOC; recent arrests will NOT appear in IDOC database.
Indiana myCase (publicaccess.courts.in.gov): useful for finding criminal case information even when no direct jail roster is available online.
Indiana Sex Offender Registry: in.gov/isp/2384.htm - searchable online by name or location.
For visitation, phone calls, sending money, commissary, or mailing to an Indiana inmate: inmateaid.com has IDOC and county jail facility details.
