County-specific variations apply

Oregon's 36 counties each have Sheriff's Office-operated county jails. Multnomah County (Portland), Washington County, Clackamas County, Lane County (Eugene), and Marion County (Salem) have the best online inmate search tools. Rural eastern and southern Oregon counties (Harney, Lake, Wheeler, Morrow, Gilliam, Sherman, etc.) may have very small jails requiring direct phone contact.
