County-specific variations apply

Utah's 29 counties each operate county jails through their Sheriff's Office. Salt Lake County (Salt Lake Metro Jail - large facility), Utah County, Davis County, Weber County, Washington County, and Cache County have the best online inmate search tools. Very rural Utah counties (Piute, Wayne, Garfield, Daggett, Rich, Beaver) have small jails and may require direct phone contact with the Sheriff's Office.
