County-specific variations apply
Wyoming is one of the MOST RURAL STATES in the nation with the smallest state population (~580,000 people) spread across a very large geographic area. NO Wyoming county has a large urban area by national standards. The Mountain West AAA alone covers 7 counties spanning enormous geographic distances including Teton County (Jackson Hole - wealthy enclave; very different from the rest), Fremont County (poverty on Wind River Reservation), and Sweetwater County (industrial/energy sector). Transportation is the most critical unmet need for Wyoming seniors.
